Postpartum Planning Checklist
I have been searching for a comprehensive postpartum preparation checklist to give clients, unfortunately everything available for free is either very outdated, brief, or not parent-centered. Going over this with your support team and partner before the arrival or your new baby is a great practice in discovering your preferences and postpartum goals.
Having these hopes, goals and boundaries clear for everyone caring for you, will increase your chances at getting the care you deserve and need to heal and integrate after birth.
When we talk about postpartum generally we skip over preparing for our physical and emotional well being in the transitional days after a new baby. Not only are there chemical and hormonal reactions happening in a body that has just given birth, but there are also circumstantial and environmental factors that can add a strain to postpartum recovery. This holistic postpartum approach is a tool to build your personal Pillars of Postpartum - your road map to recovery and embodiment.
Think about the mechanisms that support healing and recovery, rest, nutrition, love, positivity, etc. Those things are as crucial after delivering a baby as any other time. To ensure adequate milk production, cell repair and regrowth, we have to give ourself permission to tend to these needs.
I love to focus on postpartum preparation and bringing baby home during our time working together, because parenting is so much easier to enjoy when you feel in control and prepared for the road ahead.
