my doula Philosophy

My personal philosophy surrounding the birthing and postpartum experience is to support and encourage whatever your philosophy is. There is no right way to give birth or be a parent, there is only the way that feels right for you and your partner. I stand behind ALL parents to assist them in having a positive and healthy pregnancy and transition into parenting, in whatever way they need.

My doula work relies on evidence based information complimented by holistic approaches that focus on the health of the body, mind and soul. Studies show that when a parent is supported in pregnancy, labor & postpartum - they are at lower risk for medical and mental health complications, they are safer from excessive medical intervention during labor and are statistically less susceptible to Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders which affect over 20% of Americans on average.

Because I am a mother of three kids with three vastly different personal birth experiences, I know how important it is to respect each families choice that suits them best. I strive to be an unconditional support person that doesn't replace your partner if you have one, but who complements your union and supports your partnership through such an important and sacred period in our lives. I ultimately believe that genuine respect, guidance and comfort through nurturing and supporting parents no matter where they are on their journey can and will change the world. When children are born to families who feel whole and positive, those children are in a more whole and positive home as they grow, leaving the outside world they come into contact with, more whole and positive.
